Opaz enhances environmental compliance standards
Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz), represented by the Environmental Regulation Department of the Regulation and Compliance Sector, made several visits to the companies operating in the zones affiliated with the authority.
The visits were made to review the procedures followed by the operating companies in the field of environmental control and the extent to which projects comply with the legislation, laws and regulations issued by Opaz and to review their compliance with the requirements of activity licenses and environmental permits followed in environmental management systems.
Among the expected results of these visits, are preparing and updating general policies of inspection, control and compliance, as well as setting up unified models for collecting information and data on environmental compliance and control in all fields, opening channels for communication, facilitating procedures and creating an attractive environment for investment.
The programme included briefing the companies on the role of the compliance and legislation sector to clarify compliance standards and environmental affairs and to strengthen partnerships with companies operating in the economic and free zones to achieve the foremost objectives of the authority.
